Abstract

This IDC study discusses the forecast for the worldwide supply chain logistics and transportation management applications software market. Off good performance in 2022, this market is expected to see strong growth through 2027 as organizations look to better optimize their supply chain operations in the short term while ensuring they are resilient to market disruptions in the longer term. Although the specter of recession continues to linger, it is viewed as much less likely at this point in 2023 than it was at this same time last year. IDC continues to see no reason to temper the forecast, although of course there is always that possibility as we move materially into 2024. Indeed, IDC surveys suggest that while supply chain executives are mindful of operational efficiency in the short term, they recognize the importance of the supply chain as an enabler of new business models. Growth in the supply chain planning applications market will be driven by both this short-term and long-term focus.

“A robust and customer-centric supply chain demands modern logistics tools to help craft a competitive edge through transportation and logistics activities and thrive in today’s business environment. Meeting performance targets that are evolving with greater regularity and magnitude requires the proliferation of supply chain intelligence to meet profitability and growth ambitions while collaboratively pursuing efficiency, resiliency, and sustainability initiatives with supply chain partners,” says Travis Eide, director, Worldwide Supply Chain Transportation and Global Trade.
