Abstract
This IDC Survey highlights the enterprise spending pattern on cloud connectivity/cloud networking. Further:
- Digital infrastructure and the rapid growth of data traffic is driving the demand for increased bandwidth. IDC survey data reveals that 3 in 10 enterprises are increasing bandwidth consumption by up to 50% per year.
- Almost 50% of enterprises will spend more on connectivity than originally budgeted to meet business requirements. This trend shows a consistent consumption pattern throughout the budget cycle.
- 98% of Asia/Pacific enterprises will spend less than 10% of their IT budget on managed network services versus 63% of EMEA businesses that expect to spend between 10% and 50% of that budget.
- The largest share of spending for North American enterprises on connectivity access is broadband/shared fiber compared with dedicated fiber for EMEA and Asia/Pacific–based businesses.
- Only 7% of enterprises are using satellite connectivity today; however, 44% are looking at future options for resiliency and increased coverage.
- Approximately 25% of enterprises report that GenAI is impacting their business today. They also expect GenAI to help accelerate network planning, improve security, and customer experience.
