Abstract
This IDC Tech Buyer Presentation explores how automation, AI, and GenAI are addressing and driving the need for skills development, improved operational work strategies, and employee engagement. It was originally presented as a keynote address for CIO's Future of Work Summit 2023: Automation & Augmentation event. The material presented draws from IDC surveys to explore shifting attitudes about automation, AI, and generative AI in a world of work transformation that lacks enough talent to keep up with evermore complex tasks. All this said, productivity is not simply an operational issue or an issue of speed to delivery, and work culture plays a significant role in how and when these automation technologies will be successfully and safely adopted.
