Abstract
This IDC Survey Spotlight provides an overview of the most important security technologies for protecting networks and applications including VPNs, firewalls, intrusion detection, packet capture, and network monitoring tools. This document highlights the importance of web application firewalls (WAF) and API security software for protection of applications and APIs.
Results from IDC's August 2023 Cybersecurity Capabilities Assessment Framework (CCAF) Survey, n = 258, show that organizations are relying heavily on WAF for protecting applications. On the other hand, API security is also elbowing its way into the security pantheon.
