Abstract

This IDC Market Presentation uses data from IDC's 2023 Service Provider View Survey, which collects responses from 400 IT decision makers and line-of-business (LOB) leaders at tier 2 and tier 3 cloud service providers (SPs) — aka the "long tail." This presentation is one of the first published deliverables to IDC's new Service Provider Adoption Trends and Strategies CIS. IDC's Service Provider Adoption Trends and Strategies CIS analyzes the current strategies, service offerings, suppliers, partner ecosystems, and investment intentions of tier 2 and tier 3 cloud service providers of varying types, including managed service providers, systems integrators (SIs), independent software vendors (ISVs), infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) providers, platform-as-a-service (PaaS) providers, and others globally. The presentation provides a deep dive into the different macroeconomic concerns and challenges facing tier 2 and tier 3 cloud service providers. It also offers insights into the ways in which specific challenges — including supply chain disruptions, the Russia-Ukraine War, and inflationary pressures — have impacted on service provider business models and strategies.
