Abstract
This IDC study provides worldwide market share data for server operating system environment new license shipments, subscriptions, and nonpaid deployments for major OS platform types for calendar year 2022, for both physical and virtualized deployment types. It also provides revenue market share data for select commercial OS suppliers.
"Despite potential headwinds, the server operating system environments market performed quite well," said Greg Macatee, senior research analyst, Infrastructure Systems, Platforms, and Technologies Group at IDC. "Our research shows customer demand for server OS products remained strong throughout the year in support of their enterprise workload needs, particularly for projects moved to and created in the public cloud."
