Abstract
This IDC Perspective discusses network observability and the advantages of a cloud-based SaaS delivery model. As network requirements become more complex and critical and experience with cloud-based services (e.g., IaaS, SaaS) builds, the advantages of cloud-based SaaS-delivered network management solutions move to the forefront when enterprises are evaluating their options in network observability. Here, ready access, flexible packaging, feature velocity, solution simplicity, and improved baselining are just some of the advantages presented by network observability solutions delivered via a SaaS model. Today, spending on these SaaS-delivered network observability solutions lags investment in similarly focused on-premises hardware and software systems. However, owing to their distinct advantages and solid match to future IT directions and requirements, customers are accelerating their adoption of SaaS-delivered solutions. Just as the industry is seen with SaaS-delivered business applications, IT organizations are turning more and more to centralized service-based management solutions — not just across the network but across all of the digital infrastructure.
