Abstract
This IDC study analyzes the hard disk drive component market for 2022–2027.
"A short-term trough in demand caused by elevated inventory levels of HDDs and macroeconomic weakness have not changed the long-term growth trends expected for capacity-optimized HDDs from the enterprise market," according to Ed Burns, research director of Hard Disk Drive and Storage Technologies research at IDC. "And while short-term weakness may reduce some investment on the part of the HDD suppliers, a great deal of focus is being applied to the development of SMR and HAMR technologies to expand petabyte supply and reduced dollar per terabyte costs for years to come."
