Abstract

This IDC Perspective examines the state of partner ecosystems for DCIaaS today, using snapshots of three vendors: AWS, Microsoft, and HPE, which offer DCIaaS through Outposts, Azure Stack, and GreenLake, respectively. Dedicated cloud infrastructure-as-a-service (DCIaaS) solutions deliver value in that they are fully managed by the vendor providing them, which frees customers up to focus on innovation while enjoying the benefits of the cloud computing operating model. But customers and prospects of DCIaaS offerings must nonetheless take into consideration what kind of supporting partners might be helpful — and a best fit — for their DCIaaS-based projects and ongoing system life cycle.

"DCIaaS represents a major cultural change for companies that have invested in the public cloud and now wish to return workload or build net-new cloud applications in a location where they have direct control over the underlying resources in a dedicated, single-tenant environment," said Chris Kanaracus, research director, Cloud Infrastructure Services at IDC. "Considering the substantial investment DCIaaS solutions can involve, customers should approach them with care and seek to leverage the knowledge of trusted partners that can help them maximize their investment."
