Abstract
This IDC study presents a five-year forecast for the worldwide augmented, extended, mixed, and virtual reality headset market.
"The worldwide AR/VR market continues to struggle in 2024 in the face of slight macroeconomic improvement, yet underpinning the market is a shifting landscape of products," says Ramon T. Llamas, research director with IDC's Augmented and Virtual Reality team. "Mixed reality and extended reality headsets, once subcategories beneath virtual reality and augmented reality, respectively, are expected to draw new vendors and products. However, their growth will come at the expense of traditional VR and AR headsets. In the latter years of the forecast period, we anticipate more devices available at lower prices to help drive the market forward."
