Abstract
This IDC Survey Spotlight highlights the current state of SaaS migration for 14 different PLM components, showing which elements are currently deployed and/or planned to be deployed in a SaaS environment. Data reveals where SaaS migration is becoming widely adopted and, more importantly, which elements of PLM are lagging behind in the transition to SaaS.
In IDC's 2023 SaaSPath Survey, we asked a broad range of questions about moving PLM/CAD solutions to SaaS. The survey results include information about SaaS PLM vendors (usage, satisfaction, and challenges), SaaS PLM professional services (usage, satisfaction, and challenges), PLM deployment models (public cloud, private cloud, hybrid, and on premises), and customer expectations versus SaaS PLM vendor ratings (including spending patterns and plans). In this document, the results of that survey reveal manufacturer's areas of concern for implementing SaaS PLM, and suggestions are provided regarding the opportunity for technology providers to accelerate the transition.
