This IDC study examines the performance of the server microprocessor market in 2022. Unit shipments, revenue, and average selling prices by vendor are included. Processors designed for other system categories but consumed by servers are not covered in this study.
2022 data by quarter for server microprocessors can be found in IDC's server microprocessor market share reports, including Worldwide Server Microprocessor Vendor, Architecture, Channel, Socket, and System Category Market Shares and Forecast, 4Q22 (IDC #US50479723, March 2023).
"In contrast to the pandemic-driven demand of 2021, 2022 grew weaker with each quarter as the year moved on," said Shane Rau, research vice president, Computing Semiconductors at IDC. "The end result was a market that limped into 2023 with significant oversupply of processors in a weak demand environment."
