Abstract
This IDC Survey highlights the challenges users face in using the full capability of their security information event management (SIEM) platform. The data comes from IDC's January 2024 Worldwide Views on SIEM Survey, which was answered by 1,004 respondents in 17 countries. The data is presented by region, size of organization, industry, and internally managed versus comanaged SOC.
The top challenge across all respondents is the need for staff dedicated to the SIEM. A SIEM is a complex security platform that requires a good amount of care and feeding to make it useful. More AI and automation are going to help customers improve their SIEM efficacy, helping them gain more insights quickly thereby reducing the mean time to detect (MTTD) and mean time to respond (MTTR) in their security organizations.
