Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight identifies the anticipated IT budget movement for infrastructure, automation, and security management solutions. When compared with 2022 spending levels, most organizations are planning to spend more on these solutions in 2023, with many indicating more than 10% increases. A highlight finding is the support for aggressive increases from the C-level respondents. The C-suite, obviously, sees the strategic advantage of a well-managed digital infrastructure that is both resilient and responsive. This IDC Survey Spotlight contains data from IDC's 2022 Future Enterprise Resiliency and Spending Survey, Wave 12. There is a focus on worldwide, North America, midsize enterprise, and C-level respondents for this data and analysis, but it should be noted that supporting data is available across all regions, organizations of all sizes, major vertical industries, and multiple respondent roles.

"Financial pressures are applied along many fronts in today's business environment. And the IT budget is not immune from executive directives to spend cautiously — or even cut selectively. IT executives must set investment priorities. Which technology areas drive big payback along multiple fronts? These areas stand to gain budget in 2023 according to worldwide IDC survey results. One of these areas is management! Solutions that solidify performance, simplify operations, strengthen security, and speed innovation deliver high-value returns to organizations looking to get the most out of their digital infrastructure and their IT staff." — Mark Leary, research director, Network Observability and Automation, IDC.
