Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight identifies which IT spending areas are least likely to see any budget reduction resulting from continued or even increased economic pressures. In essence, the responses identify those IT initiatives and technologies that are given the highest investment priority — no matter what happens with the world's economy. It contains data from IDC's February 2023 Future of Enterprise Resiliency and Spending Survey, Wave 1. There is a focus on worldwide, North America, IT role, and LOB role for this data and analysis, but it should be noted that supporting data is available across all regions and organizations of all sizes and major vertical industries.

"While opinions vary on the movement of the world's economy into 2023 and beyond, certain technology spending initiatives stand out as high priorities from both a business and an IT perspective. Strengthen the security posture. Deliver the best possible customer experience. Drive operational excellence. Maximize the impact of workers and data. All are assigned top priority as a resilient and responsive digital infrastructure stands front and center in the digital business model. No matter what happens outside the organization, business and IT execs see certain digital infrastructure initiatives as core to their success." — Mark Leary, research director — Network Observability and Automation, IDC.
