Abstract

This IDC Survey examines results from IDC's 2023 Digital Executive Sentiment Survey to determine where companies are succeeding in data and operational processes to support digital business and where they are in need of improvement.

Capabilities in data and operational processes are critical to becoming a digital business. While most organizations view themselves as digital currently, our analysis shows in the areas of data and operational processes there is plenty of work to do and investment to be made for companies to become digital business leaders in their markets.

In this wide-ranging survey, we asked 1,975 executives at organizations around the world how they are approaching digital investment, digital business models, and digital innovation programs and the impact those are having on their company's revenue now and in the future.

Most companies are unifying their data strategies and operational processes at an enterprisewide level, but they still see the need for investment in technology that supports their goals in those areas. In exploring IDC's Digital Executive Sentiment Survey data, we examine the role AI plays in the data and process standardization goals of respondent organizations and provide recommendations on how tech suppliers can help their customers become leading digital businesses.
