Abstract

This IDC Market Perspective provides insight into buyer expectations of managed SPs in supporting the creation of an effective governance structure and the implementation of a multicloud management platform, also referred to as a control plane, to be used as part of this structure. This document also provides a strategic framework of critical building blocks required to support meeting governance requirements involving a new operating model and an integrated matrix for public cloud partners.

"Enterprises' ability to achieve their business and IT objectives when utilizing managed cloud services requires managed SPs to create a robust governance structure that requires making a wide array of investments that utilize a new operating model," says David Tapper, program VP, Outsourcing and Managed Cloud Services at IDC. "Investments that managed SPs must make to ensure that they can support meeting client business and IT objectives include incorporating a business operations center, utilizing an 'intelligent' multicloud management platform, and implementing an integrated matrix for public cloud partners."
