Abstract

This IDC study presents the new five-year forecast for security services. Security service providers (SPs) need to understand how global threats, economic conditions, the increased role of the Board and the C-suite, and the growing regulatory environment will impact the demand for the various security services that they are offering.

"Uncertain economic times are causing a market shift. Security leaders are being asked to do more with less. This is not necessarily a bad desire, as the glut of tools in today's SOCs is evidence of the failed mindset that the magic pill for cybersecurity is more tools and technology. The reality is the right technology mix might mean a platform-centric technology mix paired with better training, procedures, governance, risk management, and a cyber-resilience mindset. Security service providers that recognize these principles will be poised for success," said Craig Robinson, research VP, Security Services at IDC.
