Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight looks at the use of hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) systems for Internet of Things (IoT) workloads. HCI systems that combine virtualization, compute, storage, and networking resources are well suited to IoT workloads, with their ease of deployment, operations, management, and scaling over more complex three-tier architectures with discrete resources. This document contains data from IDC's June 2022 IoT IT Infrastructure Survey, focusing on IoT trends in networking, server systems, and storage systems across enterprise IT infrastructure. IDC surveyed 408 IT and line-of-business decision makers and end users familiar with their organization's compute and storage IT infrastructure. Additional storage-related IDC IoT IT Infrastructure Survey results are available at idc.com in IoT IT Infrastructure Survey: Storage (IDC #US49871122, November 2022).
