Abstract

This IDC Market Perspective examines what two vendors — Oracle and SoftIron — pursuing a strategy that aligns with white-label cloud are doing and provides context and guidance for end buyers. Resellers have white labeled cloud-based services for years, but recent developments in the market have seen the emergence of options for fully featured white-label IaaS, PaaS and, in one case, SaaS platforms all in the same system. This IDC Perspective looks at this growing landscape and weighs the pros and potential cons for customers as alternatives to hyperscaler offerings in the public cloud space and OEM options for dedicated cloud and dedicated cloud IaaS.

"IDC increasingly sees cloud computing as a general operating model for IT rather than something that is associated with a particular location," said Chris Kanaracus, research director, Cloud Infrastructure Services at IDC. "The emergence of white-label cloud platforms is in early stages but presents a potentially attractive option for customers that wish to work with local MSPs in a deeper manner as well as run their own clouds in an internal services model."
