Abstract

This IDC study highlights the results of IDC's 2023 Location and Geospatial Intelligence MaturityScape Benchmark Survey and is a supplement to IDC MaturityScape: Location and Geospatial Intelligence 1.0 (IDC #US49902923, March 2023). Combined, these two documents provide a clear vision of maturity while also showing the opportunity that location and geospatial intelligence can provide across a variety of use cases. This study's intended audience include senior-level and business-focused executives, CIOs, and CXOs responsible for the commercial and back-office functions. This document enables organizations to:

  • Assess their current state and readiness of their location and geospatial intelligence enablement.
  • Benchmark their own maturity against the maturity level of their peers.
  • Uncover maturity gaps and identify areas in need of improvement to support location and geospatial intelligence best practices.
  • Identify the steps they need to take to advance to the next stage of maturity.

"Every enterprise seeks additional relevant context for processes and decision making, and location and geospatial intelligence has enormous potential to illuminate and improve how those are conducted today," said Lynne Schneider, research director, Location and Geospatial Intelligence at IDC. "It is a necessary dimension of any intelligence program and the time is right for these capabilities to expand exponentially."
