This IDC Market Forecast provides the worldwide sovereign cloud market forecast for 2023 to 2027. It represents IDC's inaugural forecast for this market and uses 2022 as the baseline year.
While the need to comply with industry regulations has traditionally driven demand for sovereign solutions, this document highlights that all industries, not just those in regulated sectors, now consider digital sovereignty to be a more significant business and technology concern.
"Much of the spending we expect to see in this market over the forecast period will be on solutions for data sovereignty," said Rahiel Nasir, IDC's lead analyst for Worldwide Digital Sovereignty and associate research director for European Cloud. "That comes as no surprise as we believe this is where the journey toward sovereign cloud starts. But as overall cloud usage continues to expand, organizations will seek more wide-ranging offerings for sovereignty that include solutions for technical and operational sovereignty. We therefore expect to also see relatively stable growth in these areas over the next few years."
