This IDC study reviews the worldwide service provider router market for 2022.
"Communications service providers worldwide continue to upgrade their network to add capacity and support new and emerging applications. The overall carrier IP routing market saw a steady YoY growth of 1.3% in 2022 due to service providers increased deployment of 400Gbps technology. North American service providers ramped up their investment in the infrastructure to support growing demand for bandwidth and surpassed all other regions in the router investment," says Ajeet Das, research director, Carrier Network Infrastructure at IDC. "Huawei and Cisco have both been the star performers in the service provider routing market in 2022 aided by the buildout of the 5G network infrastructure around the globe where its broader portfolio appears to be helping it gain share."
