Abstract

This IDC study provides historical market share data (2021-2022) for the worldwide enterprise infrastructure (server and enterprise storage systems) workloads market. This historical data illustrates top enterprise infrastructure vendor shares overall and by workload category. IDC reported these vendor shares in terms of vendor revenue. This document shows the combined server and storage vendor shares for various enterprise workload categories; hence, the competitive landscape is more aligned with positioning of server vendors due to the relative size of server and ESS markets.

"2022 proved to be a banner year for enterprise infrastructure spend, with the pent-up demand of the past few years leading to significant growth in spending for all workloads despite some worrisome macroeconomic trends. While 2023 is expected to see some constriction, we foresee the trends seen this year will continue into the future, especially in regard to the faster-growing workloads within the data management workload category." — Max Pepper, senior research analyst, Infrastructure Systems, Platforms, and Technologies at IDC
