Abstract

This IDC Survey focuses on the importance of security as the adoption of remote and hybrid work models continue to rise. Employee churn and the adoption of hybrid work models to mitigate the churn are increasing security risks across the globe. As a result, IT leaders are investing more in security technologies and security skills training to support remote and hybrid work models. This survey considers three areas determining the security of new hybrid work environments in North America, EMEA, and APAC:

  • What are the greatest security concerns including the major IT and organizational challenges relative to remote and hybrid work models?
  • What are the key technologies organizations are investing in to improve organizational security? Which security services will receive the greatest funding increase?
  • What are the critical technology skills for an organization to hire or develop in the next 18 months? How difficult has it been to fill these positions?

The insights are based on IDC's April 2022 Future of Work Global Survey (n = 1,316) and IDC's July 2022 Future Enterprise Resiliency and Spending Survey (n = 816).
