Abstract

This IDC study provides a stage-by-stage framework that aims to guide mining organizations through the process of becoming data-driven. The study explores five stages of the data-driven journey, from ad hoc through to optimized. For each step of the data-driven process, the typical organizational characteristics and progress benchmarks have been elaborated on across the dimensions of data, people and process, and technology. The maturity of a mining organization's data-driven operations capability is limited by the weakness of any individual dimension.
