Abstract

This IDC Market Perspective focuses on the advantages and challenges faced in 2022 within the warehousing sector. In 2022, the warehousing industry has seen remarkable successes and advancements, thanks to the combined efforts of both innovative technology and dedicated professionals. By looking at the past year, it is clear that the industry has come a long way in terms of efficiency and convenience. 2023 is the year companies and organization attempt to get back on track after a tumultuous previous year of managing supply chain disruptions.

Despite the advances in technology, warehousing in 2022 faced many challenges. Some of the biggest challenges faced were the increase in labor costs, talent shortages, and lack of application integration and lack of training. This led to increased overhead costs for many companies, as they had to invest more in compensation and benefits for their warehouse workers. "In today's competitive market, companies must have an efficient and effective warehousing processes in order to remain competitive," according to Roderick Gaines, research director, Warehousing, Inventory, and Order Management at IDC.
