Abstract
This IDC Survey is based on IDC's EMEA Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) Survey conducted in February and March 2023. The survey elicited 400 respondents from organizations with 500 employees or more across Western and Eastern Europe, plus the Middle East and Africa (MEA) subregion. The survey investigates the role of the CISO, exploring issues beyond technology acquisition intentions and preferences to examine the key characteristics of the role, including career background, reporting lines and influences, personal ambitions, and organizational challenges. Survey findings should help practicing CISOs compare their role characteristics with their EMEA peers. They will also help technology vendors understand more about how to engage with the CISO role at customer and prospect organizations.
