Abstract
This IDC Perspective is part of a two-report series highlighting how digital transformation and sustainability are intertwined in the manufacturing industry. This part summarizes the challenging market environment that manufacturers must navigate while addressing the bigger climate change threat looming over them. It also covers strategic business priorities, how green has become a part of each of the priorities, and what manufacturers should/can do in their journeys to become sustainable enterprises.
"Sustainability is not a new topic in the manufacturing industry, but in the past year, it has come to the forefront with manufacturers looking to operationalize sustainability and bring about a real change in how they run their businesses," said Gunjan Bassi, research manager, IDC Manufacturing Insights' EMEA team.
