Abstract

This IDC PeerScape offers advice for IT and business executives on how they can address some of the common challenges Canadian organizations have to address while engaging in digital transformation. Organizations need to adapt to a rapidly changing environment as well as the added challenges/uncertainty created by the pandemic. While IDC conducted these interviews prior to the pandemic, many of the challenges faced by these organizations around business processes, customer experience, and data management are still relevant concerns. IDC has highlighted practices that were leveraged by these organizations to accelerate their digital transformation journey from the proactive use of technologies to transforming their internal processes.

"While digital transformation accelerated during the pandemic in terms of projects and improved collaboration between business and IT, Canadian organizations need to prepare for a post-COVID-19 economy. The pressures around being innovative and competitive while managing costs remain with the added challenge of new customer behavior and increased competition. To compete successfully, companies can learn from their peers on how to leverage technologies and processes more effectively," says Megha Kumar, research director, Software and Cloud Services, IDC Canada.
