Abstract

This IDC Playbook for Tech Sales Leaders provides a concise current state view of the Asia/Pacific including Japan (APJ) project-oriented services market, along with insights into digital business trends and guidance for account strategies. Tech sales leaders in the business, technology consulting, and implementation service segments can use this information when seeking clarity about client buying criteria and impact of business transformation trends on project-oriented business and technology services.

Business transformation in using technology to compete is top of mind for CEOs and their C-Suites. 79% of APJ CEOs plan to increase tech spend to develop platform capabilities and digital use cases that enable digital revenue growth. To this end, technology buyers require business and IT services to address digital initiative hurdles and reinvent the business. At the same time, technology priorities are shifting with a focus on building business platforms with digital capabilities that scale and accelerate time to value. As such, project-oriented services are expected to grow by 5.8% per annum between 2022 and 2026.

"In the digital business era, sales leaders of business and technology services must be thought leaders that unlock new digital value through the 'Art of Possible' in using technology to compete," says Lawrence Cheok, associate research director, Digital Business Strategies. "APJ CEOs are seeking strategic service partners to challenge conventional business practices and improve business performance through business platforms that enable digital business models," he adds.

The analysis in this report is based on results from IDC's Worldwide CEO Sentiment Survey 2023, IDC Worldwide C-Suite Sentiment Survey 2022, IDC Digital Executive Sentiment Survey 2022, and IDC Worldwide Future of Work Survey 2023.
