Abstract
The emergence of 5G has created possibilities for communications SPs to provide services related to advanced technologies such as AI, Internet of Things (IoT), and network slicing. However, to fully realize the potential of 5G, telcos must update and modernize their outdated and inflexible legacy operational support system/business support system (OSS/BSS) infrastructures, which cannot accommodate these modern technologies. Modernizing operation and monetization system will enable communications SPs to become digital SPs.
"The potential for new business opportunities with 5G is driven by enterprises, but only if the functions of provisioning assurance and monetization are adequately advanced to meet the operational demands of real-time, flexible changes, and exceptional customer experience," says Khairil Anwar Rahmat, senior research manager, IDC Asia/Pacific.
