This IDC Market Analysis Perspective (MAP) summarizes 5G incremental spending across all network domains, Asia/Pacific 5G spectrum allocations, and deployments. The new markets to join the ranks of 5G deployments are Malaysia, Indonesia, India, and Vietnam. Incremental 5G spending is defined as any network investment that is needed to support and handle the increased capacity and bandwidth requirements anticipated for 5G and includes optical transport, access aggregation, mobile core, datacenter connectivity and capacity, and IT systems.
