Abstract

This IDC Market Presentation discusses the current economic outlook for and challenges of manufacturing organizations in Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) (APEJ). Digital transformation (DX) maturity and shop floor priorities were evaluated with highlights on manufacturing workflow challenges and current DX practices. A deep dive into organization road map planning and DX scalability is discussed with various industries success stories as examples, highlighting the challenges and implementation benefits from the technology solution.

"The value and benefits of DX are well recognized; manufacturing organizations are scaling up on digital transformation initiatives to build operation resiliency and improve shop floor efficiency. Manufacturers need to embrace and leverage availability of latest technologies to help in upskilling internal shop floor capabilities to prevent the risk of falling behind their competitive peers. Prudent strategic DX road map planning and technology investment through use case selection are essential to grow companies' capabilities to achieve short- and long-term organization goals," says Wai Yee Lee, research manager, IDC Manufacturing Insights.
