Abstract
This IDC Survey Spotlight answers the following question: How has your 2023 business consulting services spend changed based on economic and geopolitical concerns? U.S. Business Consulting Services Forecast Update, 2023-2027: Mixed Results During "Interesting Times" (IDC #US49906323, December 2023) described mixed results for business consulting providers. Buyers were more volatile than past years. Unlike the COVID-19 pandemic across-the-board drop of consulting in 2020, in 2023 buyers displayed a more chaotic spending pattern. This proved challenging for providers that had to manage talent and capabilities to the shifting needs of buyers that altered their business consulting spend to targeted larger projects and less small and short-duration projects.
