Abstract
This IDC Survey analyzes interest in kids' wearables in the United States. In the spring of 2023, IDC surveyed 589 adults on their opinions and perspectives about getting a wearable device for their kids. This included what features parents found important, how much they would be willing to pay for a wearable device for the kids, and how much they would be willing to pay for cellular connectivity for a connected wearable.
"Kids' wearables have long been the exception and not the norm in the United States, but this survey shows interest," says Ramon T. Llamas, research director with IDC's Wearables team. "Participants focus on GPS location, communication, and parental controls on a kids' wearable device, and these are common to most devices. But when it comes to what parents are willing to pay for a device and for monthly cellular service, participants tend to overestimate the true cost. Vendors and carriers can key in on this along with the value proposition that these devices have to offer."
