Abstract
This IDC Survey Spotlight highlights recent survey results on which areas of spending retailers are prioritizing this year, despite potential change in economic conditions. Retailers, at a rate exceeding the cross-industry average, cited security, risk, and compliance IT investments as the top "must-have" in 2023. Ongoing risks in retail from ransomware attacks, cybersecurity issues, and increasingly sophisticated ORC attacks are keeping security and risk the top priority. In addition, new and increasingly complex data sovereignty rules for multinational retailers are driving the need for IT investments in ensuring data sovereignty requirements are met.
