Abstract

This IDC Market Presentation provides IDC's perspective on how organizations will set out to make infrastructure investment choices when it comes to generative AI investments. Infrastructure (computing and storage) is a crucial component of any AI/ML deployment; the wrong choice can render any initiative to fail or even worse deliver subpar outcomes and return on investment. Generative AI is still in its early days. Organizations are far from reaching a level of maturity with existing AI/ML investments, let alone embarking on newer experimental initiatives with little clarity on business differentiation. Infrastructure choices for generative AI are therefore not even close to being formulated by businesses worldwide. But that does not mean IT infrastructure vendors and service providers cannot prepare now. This presentation provides ways in which they can guide businesses exploring generative AI.
