Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight examines DevOps challenges with database access and changes. A database system holds most of the data that an application needs to function, and modern applications rely upon various database types such as relational, NoSQL, object-oriented, and graph databases.

"As organizations are looking for ways to optimize DevOps velocity, they are discovering that database access and changes stand out as a bottleneck," said Jim Mercer, research vice president of DevOps and DevSecOps at IDC. "Challenges with test data, shared database resources, compliance, and so forth are creating the need for modern database tooling that can work at the speed of DevOps."
