Security-, Cloud- and Mobility-Related Printer and MFP Features Head the List of Capabilities to Become More Important in Future Hardware Offerings
Abstract
This IDC Survey Spotlight highlights security-, cloud- and mobility-related printer and MFP features that head the list of capabilities to become more important in future hardware offerings. In IDC's recent Return to the Office Survey, we asked respondents to indicate how they expect the importance of 10 common printer and MFP features to change in the future for their organization. The survey was conducted with over 500 U.S. respondents in September 2022.
The features examined in this question were not the most common features for such machines, but included:
- Simplicity of the user interface
- Ease of service
- Mobile print/scan
- Device size
- Print/scan to the cloud
- Apps/connectors
- Security
- Service and support experience
- Cloud-based device management
- Environmental friendliness
The findings pointed to security, cloud, and mobility functionality as demonstrating the most increase in importance for print and MFP solutions.
