Abstract
This IDC Survey examines the results of IDC's Industry AI Path Survey for the oil and gas industry. IDC defines artificial intelligence (AI) as systems that learn, reason, and self-correct, learning from mistakes and failures and attempting to emulate a human being. AI applications learn about us — our likes, our dislikes, and what we do — and then use that learning to answer questions, predict actions, and make recommendations. These applications use natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning to provide assistance in a wide range of areas.
IDC's Industry AI Path Survey evaluated 28 unique industries to recognize the fast-changing landscape of AI uses and deployments. This particular analysis was focused on the oil and gas industry and industry leader's thoughts and behaviors as it relates to AI.
