Abstract

This IDC Tech Buyer Presentation examines how enterprise connectivity challenges, business initiatives, and investment priorities are helping improve outcomes for the enterprise value chain and partner ecosystem. This presentation is part 4 of a series of four enterprise-focused presentations that analyzes data from IDC's 2022 Future of Connectedness Survey. The survey respondents were either the primary decision maker or part of a team within the enterprise that makes connectivity investment decisions. These top purchasing decisions become the drivers of agility and fit within one of the four cornerstones of agility that the future enterprise can achieve as part of its larger transformation strategy.

IDC views value chain agility as a business outcome that centers around an organization's ability to connect to and share data intelligence with value-added partners that reside outside the organization. For many organizations, external partners may have limited connections to internal systems and data that are offered to employees. Removing those barriers to allow critical communications and data movement results in more timely interactions between the organization and the partners, increases engagement efficiency, and helps accelerate time to business outcomes.

Achieving value chain agility requires an organization to identify connectivity-enabled processes that align strategically with an organization's business, operational, and customer-facing initiatives. The modernization of technology and operational processes are prerequisites to ensuring that critical networks, systems, and applications can be leveraged by the partner ecosystem to ensure the best possible business outcome.

IDC survey data shows that more than half of enterprises are increasing investment in cloud-based CRM and partner onboarding tools as well as partner management systems to improve data connectivity and sharing with ecosystem partners.
