Abstract

This IDC Market Presentation features the results of surveys of enterprises in both North America and Europe to determine differences in how enterprises deploy private mobile networks (PMNs) and devices, the use cases that most resonate, and their attitudes and buying preferences when purchasing and deploying PMNs. In these surveys, IDC asked enterprises about 12 sets of use cases that are enabled by PMNs that enable them to achieve their business objectives.

Enterprises across multiple sectors are increasingly deploying PMNs based on standards-based cellular connectivity to securely connect their people and assets. Enterprises in Europe and North America are finding many of the same benefits from PMN technology and services.

"Private mobile networks are catching the eye of more businesses across all industries and geographies as a critical tool in securing corporate networks, and as a key enabler of digital transformation strategy, which increasingly is incorporating a 'wireless first' approach in connecting the enterprise," says Jason Leigh, research manager, 5G and Mobile Services. "But differences in regulatory regimes, spectrum availability, and industry priorities are influencing the key buying factors important to North American and European companies, which will require PMN providers to craft targeted vertical marketing and adaptable business models that deliver tangible ROI from many different vectors."
