Abstract

This IDC Market Perspective highlights the top trends in network observability for 2023. Onrushing digital business demands, continual technology advancements, and ever-improving IT practices are all applying more and more pressure on the network infrastructure and network management systems, services, and staff. Network observability solutions must provide detailed intelligence and insights to not only assure network integrity but also contribute to complementary and overarching efforts focused on heightened digital infrastructure resiliency. Success of network observability solutions rests on their ability to offer detailed insights into the cloud, bolster security postures and processes, deliver the best user experience, support integration with other management and observability tools, and serve to bolster staff capabilities, productivity, and impact.

"IDC research indicates that most organizations use more than six observability solutions to manage their digital infrastructure. And many use double or triple this number!" says Mark Leary, director, Network Observability and Automation at IDC. "While all organizations wish to streamline their toolset, no one solution or supplier can do it all. Suppliers must develop a realistic view of their role in managing the network. Then establish a technology road map that matches role to requirements. And remember, solution success is driven as much by delivery practices as technology developments."
