Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight analyzes results of IDC's annual U.S. Enterprise Mobility Decision Maker Survey: Devices, conducted in June of 2022 among 400 enterprise mobility decision makers in the United States.

While bring-your-own-device (BYOD) trends in the enterprise have not traditionally applied to PCs as broadly as they have to smartphones and tablets, BYOD PC deployments are on the rise among U.S. businesses. Recent shifts in how and where people work, employee device choice, cloud-based productivity suites, and cross-platform endpoint management software are all contributing to an increase in BYOD PC use. While BYOD PC expansion has largely been a side effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, end users and IT departments alike have warmed to the idea of allowing workers to use their personally owned computers so long as the necessary safeguards are in place.

This IDC Survey Spotlight highlights trends regarding bring-your-own-device PC deployments among United States–based businesses.
