Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight provides insights on infrastructure buyer assessment of select pressing factors on their purchasing decisions and activities. The results are derived from IDC's Enterprise Workload Infrastructure Survey, completed in October 2022. Recessionary risks, inflation, continuous (albeit improving) supply chain disruptions, and geopolitical turmoil — the current environment has no shortage of factors that create uncertainty about business and economic prospects in the next 12 months. This uncertainty impacts a range of planning activities including investments in IT infrastructure (server and storage) products. Which factors represent the most concern to infrastructure buyers? How do they react on these concerns? How does criticality of enterprise workloads impact the steps they are undertaking to mitigate the risks?
