Abstract

This IDC study compiles data from several other IDC cloud-related forecasts and trackers and uses definitions consistent with those other forecasts to provide a perspective on both the total portion of major IT sectors that are influenced by cloud in all its forms and the breakdown of spending on cloud-based services (as a service), the support, and professional services needed to deploy and govern cloud resources (services); and the hardware, software, and support services required to build and maintain cloud environments (cloud supply chain). It also discusses how current economic and geopolitical conditions may affect enterprises' cloud consumption and management practices.

"Cloud now dominates tech spending across infrastructure, platforms, and applications. As organizations struggle with a growing set of economic and geopolitical disruptions next year, IDC expects enterprises and cloud providers themselves to focus on tactical actions that ensure they are achieving the maximum return on past, current, and future cloud investments." — Rick Villars, group vice president, Worldwide Research, IDC
