Abstract

This IDC Survey details results from IDC's 2022 U.S. Smart Home Survey, which was fielded in July. The survey asked respondents questions regarding consumer adoption of and attitudes toward a variety of smart home devices and services, security and privacy concerns, and smart assistants. This IDC Survey document focuses on aspects of the survey related to use of smart assistants in the home.

"Consumer usage of smart assistants in the home continues to rise year over year," said Adam Wright, senior research analyst for IDC's Smart Home and Office Devices program. "However, despite overall growth in adoption, the frequency of interactions each day has declined in 2022, and use cases continue to center around basic tasks rather than advanced capabilities. Vendors need to continue to educate users about new features and functionalities to ensure long-term engagement."
