Abstract

This IDC Market Perspective offers an overview of the dedicated cloud infrastructure as a service (DCIaaS) market, the forces driving its growth, and its influence on the future of digital infrastructure. DCIaaS is poised for massive growth between now and 2025, rocketing from $138 million in 2020 to $14 billion in 2025. With that growth will come an increasing diversity of choice among DCIaaS solutions, meaning that suppliers must hone their messages both for competitive differentiation and buyer understanding. In turn, potential DCIaaS customers must develop a big picture view of how DCIaaS solutions can best work for them.

"Cloud computing is increasingly about not a particular location but rather an overall operating model for IT," said Chris Kanaracus, research director in IDC's Cloud and Edge Infrastructure Services practice. "DCIaaS solutions give customers the benefits of cloud computing in a location under their control or that of a partner, which can provide lower latency for critical workloads and help them meet security and emergency data sovereignty standards."
