Abstract
This IDC study discusses Intel's Israel influence in the company and semiconductors technology development. Intel has continued to engage in its transformation journey by investing in traditional silicon development cycles, post–silicon quality control through its validation processes and state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, which was highlighted during our tour of the Israel Development Centre. The engineering culture of Israel is unique. While engineers strive for excellence, there is a unique openness to failure, as it is deemed as just a step in a learning journey that is essential to fast, results-oriented R&D.
"Innovation and execution begins with a cohesive and experienced team. There is so much more the Israel Development Centre team can bring to Intel," says Mario Morales, GVP at IDC.
Intel also has other strategies in place in Israel to keep innovating in a highly competitive market. The acquisitions in Israel of Mobileye, Habana Labs, cnvrg.io, and Granulate are deeply tied to Intel's AI business strategy, as the AI chips business is increasingly relevant for Intel's diversification and top-line growth and as the software stack related to AI promises significant growth in the coming years.
"cnvrg.io working together with another portfolio company is a great example of an integrated investment portfolio strategy, as it allows for Habana Labs to sell in its AI infrastructure marketplace, making two of Intel's acquisitions increase velocity to market," says Anielle Guedes, senior research analyst for IDC's European Customer Insights and Analysis group.
